Qatari Diar has announced the new name of its hotel in one of UK’s historical landmarks - Grosvenor Square in Mayfair - to become "The Chancery Rosewood".
The company is developing the US Embassy’s building in London and is currently converting it to a luxury hotel, which is the latest example of the company's ongoing investments into UK real estate.
Qatari Diar started construction at the hotel, and the British architect, Sir David Chipperfield, will work towards giving the building, which is Grade II listed, a new life for future generations, while preserving the unique exterior designed by architect Eero Saarinen.
The hotel consists of 139 rooms and suites by J. Dirand, dining and entertainment venues, a ballroom for 1,000 guests designed by Y. Pushelberg, a Rosewood Spa & wellbeing facility, and 5 flagship retail spaces. It combines tradition and modernity while preserving themid-20th century building.
Eng. Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, CEO of Qatari Diar, stated "Our vision at Qatari Diar is to revitalize this space through the creation of a world-class hotel that will be an icon in London, and we’re proud to be delivering as part of our ongoing investment in UK real estate.”
Callum Tuckett, Managing Director of Multiplex, said: “We're proud to be awarded the contract for The Chancery Rosewood, continuing the relationship we have with QD on their Chelsea Barracks development. We look forward to deliver a new destination in Mayfair – safely, sustainably and to the highest standards”.
