Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company was established in 2005 by the Qatar Investment Authority, the sovereign wealth fund of the State of Qatar. Headquartered northeast of capital Doha on the coast of the Arabian Gulf.

Qatari Diar was entrusted to support Qatar’s growing economy and to coordinate the country’s real estate development priorities.

Lusail
The company’s flagship project, Lusail City, was launched in December 2005 and quickly went on to gain tremendous praise for its innovative approach to real estate.
The progressive self-contained city is the largest single development to be undertaken in the State of Qatar and although it is currently under construction, Lusail already signifies Qatar’s progress on a grand scale, reflecting the vision and quality that have become synonymous with Qatari Diar.

His Excellency Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiya
Minister of Municipality and Chairman of Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company
Since March 2024, H.E. Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiya has been serving as the Chairman of Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company. In January 2017, His Excellency was named to the Board of Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company, later becoming CEO in July 2018.

Prior to this role, he worked as the Vice Chairman of Barwa Real Estate Company Board of Directors starting in September 2018, and was subsequently promoted to Chairman in 2023. In March 2021, His Excellency was appointed as Deputy Chairman of Katara Hospitality, where he also served on the board. In March 2022, he joined the Board of Directors of both the United Development Company. Drawing on his extensive managerial experience, His Excellency has spearheaded development across multiple sectors in the State of Qatar, supporting the country’s National Vision 2030. His Excellency is also Vice President of the Board of Directors at Al Saad Sports Club.

Previously, His Excellency held several positions at the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), eventually assuming the post of Vice President until 2018. He was then appointed as Vice Chairman of the Qatar Primary Materials Company, where he was voted as Acting CEO by the Board, until early May 2018. During the same year, His Excellency joined the VINCI SA Board of Directors as a member.

In 2014, His Excellency took on a new role as Acting Executive Director of the Programme Management Office of Qatar's Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy. He then served as Director of the Technical Office at Ashghal in 2015.

His Excellency has an extensive and accomplished career working across sectors in Qatar, which began with him working as an Operations Engineer at Qatar Petroleum until 2011, later becoming a Project Engineer and then an Onshore Development and Planning Manager at RasGas in 2012.

H.E. Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiya holds an MSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cardiff University, United Kingdom.

Engineer Ali Mohamed Al-Ali
CEO of Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company
Engineer Ali Mohamed Al-Ali brings over 22 years of extensive experience spanning various sectors nationwide, excelling in senior administrative and executive roles. Eng. Al-Ali joined Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company in 2023, assuming the position of Chief Administration Officer, subsequently moving to Chief Development Asset Management Officer, and eventually ascending to the CEO role in March 2024.

Prior to his tenure at Qatari Diar, Eng. Al-Ali demonstrated his leadership prowess as Deputy General Director – Tournament Operations of World Cup 2022 at The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy from. His career trajectory includes significant responsibilities at Kahramaa from 2002 to 2017, where he held pivotal roles such as Director of Tarsheed Department, Director of Customer Services Department, Director of National Control Center, and Director of Planning, Production Development, Water Resources, and Business Development in addition to other senior positions. Transitioning in 2017, he assumed the role of Director of the Building Permits Complex at the Ministry of Municipality, concurrently serving as Secretary General of GCC Cigre and representing the State of Qatar in numerous Gulf and regional committees.

Eng. Al-Ali holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Communications Engineering from the University of Texas, USA, and an MBA from the University of Hull, UK.
